Black sea glass, known as 'pirate glass' by collectors, is one of the rarest colours to find, and easily overlooked as it closely resembles a pebble to the untrained eye. Known as black, these bottles were actually highly pigmented olive green or amber. The kick-ups (the indent in the bottle base) in this necklace are thick enough that a strong light could not reveal which colour they truly were. Now set in sterling silver they look entirely black.
This one-of-a-kind pendant has been hallmarked by the Birmingham Assay office, and comes with a 45cm chain.
All of the sea glass in my collection was found on the beaches of Cornwall. Each unique piece is carefully selected for use in my jewellery before being worked with 100% recycled sterling silver.
